1️⃣ Eligibility Criteria – Read Carefully Before You Apply
-
Students who already hold an MBBS seat through All India Quota (AIQ), Deemed University, or any other state counselling (Round 1 or 2) are not eligible to participate in Karnataka Round 3.
-
However, students who were allotted seats in Engineering, AYUSH, or Dental and now want to upgrade to MBBS can apply.
-
In such cases, collecting original documents from the previous college is the student’s own responsibility.
-
Failure to submit documents within the KEA reporting deadline will lead to:
❌ Loss of both old and new seats
❌ Forfeiture of paid fees or security amount
-
👉 In short — don’t apply unless you are sure you can produce your original documents on time.
2️⃣ Security Deposit Rules for Round 3 (Very Important)
Karnataka Round 3 comes with strict security deposit requirements depending on your seat type:
Seat Type | Security Deposit (₹) |
---|---|
Open Quota (OQ) / Private Seats | 25,00,000 |
General Category (Private Colleges) | 12,00,000 |
Government Quota Seats (Including Private under Govt Quota) | 1,00,000 |
⚠️ Important:
If you are allotted a seat but fail to join or report, your entire security amount will be forfeited.
In some cases, penal action may also be taken.
👉 Only serious and financially prepared candidates should proceed with Round 3 option entry.
3️⃣ Special Instructions – For Students Appearing in Both MCC & KEA Counselling
If you are participating in both MCC (All India) and KEA (Karnataka) counselling simultaneously:
-
Suppose you are allotted seats in both rounds (KEA and MCC).
If you wish to join the KEA seat, you must email KEA within one day of the result publication saying:“I am interested to join KEA seat.”
-
Failure to send this email within 24 hours will result in your KEA seat being cancelled, and your name will not appear in the final allotment list.
Option Entry Window
-
The Round 3 Option Entry Process is open now and will remain active until 13th (afternoon) as per KEA’s schedule.
-
The Mock Allotment Result will be released only after the Round 3 Final Allotment, unlike previous rounds where it was published early.
-
Newly registered candidates must download their verification slip and re-enter their choices from scratch.
4️⃣ Important Parental Advisory – Check College Fee Before Choice Filling
KEA has clearly mentioned (Point 4 in the notice):
“Parents are advised to verify the Seat Matrix and Fee Structure of colleges before entering options.”
Why this is important:
Many students assume that once they get a seat, the college will negotiate the fee — but that’s not true.
-
Colleges are not bound to reduce fees after allotment.
-
Some colleges have on-paper MBBS fees ranging from ₹1.8 to ₹2 crore per annum, and they strictly adhere to it.
👉 Always check the official seat matrix and fee structure of each college before you submit your option entry.
