Karnataka has extended its NEET PG Round 1 counselling after MCC revised the national PG counselling schedule.
This update mainly affects choice filling, fee details, and how your options will work in Round 2.
In this blog, we explain:
-
Why Karnataka extended Round 1
-
New last date and time for choice filling
-
Important fee-related instructions
-
A critical rule about no fresh options in Round 2
-
What students should do now
Why Did Karnataka Extend NEET PG Round 1?
MCC recently extended NEET PG Round 1 and announced that:
-
MCC Round 1 result will come on 22 November
-
States should declare their PG Round 1 results only after MCC’s Round 1 result
Because of this, Karnataka also had to adjust its own schedule and extend Round 1 timelines.
New Last Date & Time for Choice Filling in Karnataka PG
Karnataka has extended the option entry / choice filling for PG counselling.
🔹 New Choice Filling Deadline
-
Till 9:00 AM on 21 November 2025
This means students now have extra time to:
-
Enter their course & college options
-
Recheck their preference order
-
Finalize choices after checking fee details
Very Important: Check Fee Details Before Locking Choices
The notification clearly advises candidates to carefully check fee details before finalizing options.
When you do option entry on the Karnataka portal:
-
You can see the fee for each college and course alongside the options.
-
Students are advised to review these fee details first, then decide their choices.
This is important because some fee values have changed.
For Students Who Already Entered Options Earlier
If you have already filled your options, the notification gives a special instruction:
-
You should re-open your options
-
Review the updated fee details (because some have been modified)
-
Then re-finalize and save your options before the extended deadline
Do not assume your previous entries are perfect.
If fee has increased or decreased for certain colleges/specializations, your earlier choices may no longer match your budget.
Critical Rule: No New Options Allowed in Round 2
This is one of the most important points for Karnataka PG:
🛑 In Round 2, Karnataka does not allow fresh option entry.
That means:
-
Whatever choices you enter in Round 1
-
Those same options are used in Round 2 as well
You cannot:
-
Add a new college in Round 2
-
Add a new specialization in Round 2
-
Rebuild your list from scratch in Round 2
So, your Round 1 choice filling decides your game for both Round 1 and Round 2.
That’s why you must:
-
Think carefully
-
Balance between dream branches, realistic options, and backup choices
-
Consider fee vs. career value
Private Colleges in Karnataka – Fee vs. Actual Possibility
In Karnataka, especially in private medical colleges, there is often:
-
A standard fee shown in the brochure / schedule
-
But in practical cases, there may be a possibility of getting admission at a lower effective fee in certain situations (depending on seat availability, specialization, demand, etc.)
This is where correct counselling guidance becomes very important, because:
-
Some specializations may be available at comparatively lesser cost
-
Some colleges may be more flexible than others
